Ay?e, Ali, Mehmet and Zeynep are middle-class millennials struggling to make ends meet in Istanbul. Either still living with their parents or hardly getting by without help from their families, they are all beset by similar woes: money crunch, joblessness, social isolation. In view of the world’s horrors that Zeynep enumerates in her diary entries, these are minor problems, ‘slight disasters’, but they are all-consuming, at least to the extent of making them cry in the still of the night. 　　However, Umut Subasi’s first feature, Almost Entirely a Slight Disaster, is not a melodrama. With an appealingly light touch, it diagnoses the malaise of a generation that has run up against a dead end, one whose future prospects are indistinguishable from a game of chance. This is a world where astrology, the lottery and online personality tests compete with visa and job applications as life-shaping elements. 　　Fittingly, the film is structured around chance and coincidence, with its handful of characters encountering each other in every permutation, as though there were no world outside this small social bubble. 　　焦嬌（湯唯 飾）15歲就來到了澳門，過著顛沛流離的生活，之后成為了賭場公關。羅大牛（吳秀波 飾）早年來到美國，一番摸爬滾打，如今已經是小有名氣的加州房地產經紀人，事業一帆風順的他在情場上自然步步為贏，是公認的鉆石王老五。　　一本名為《查令十字街84號》的書讓這一對生活毫無交集的男女走到了一起，兩人通過電子郵件進行交往，透過種種誤會和波折，最終發現彼此是自己的靈魂伴侶。在此期間，焦嬌徘徊在鄭義（陸毅 飾）、鄧先生（王志文 飾）和詩人（祖峰 飾）之間不知何去何從，而羅大牛則在同華裔老夫妻林平生（秦沛 飾）和唐秀懿（吳彥姝 飾）的交往當中逐漸發現了人生的道義。
