蘭道爾·樸將首度擔任導演，執導路邊風景影業新片《短板》。該片改編自艾德里安·托米恩創作的同名漫畫，托米恩也將為該片撰寫劇本。原著漫畫聚焦舊金山灣區的三個年輕亞裔美國都市人——Ben Tanaka、Miko Hayashi與Alice Kim，他們在一系列人際關系中游刃有余，為尋找理想的情感共鳴而穿越全美國。場景設定在咖啡館、酒吧和臥室里，他們的故事以赤裸裸的坦誠和犀利的幽默相互碰撞與交織。
