佐藤健,神木隆之介,小松菜奈,桐谷健太,新井浩文,皆川猿時,山田孝之,宮藤官九郎,中川雅也,染谷將太擅長畫畫的高中生真城最高（佐藤健 飾）有一天被頭腦靈光的同學高木秋人（神木隆之介 飾）纏上。對方自稱超級喜歡漫畫，可卻沒有繪畫才能，秋人希望和最高搭檔進軍漫畫界。最高的叔叔川口太郎（宮藤官九郎 飾）曾是小有名氣的漫畫家，但因過勞和連載被砍最終英年早逝，這讓青年深知這一行的殘酷性。經(jīng)不住秋人的慫恿，最高終于就范。兩人選擇自薦的方式將目標鎖定在集英社旗下的殿堂級周刊《JUMP》上，并初步得到了編輯服部哲（山田孝之 飾）的認可。與此同時，天才高中生新妻英二（染谷將太 飾）橫空出世，促使兩個人不顧一切地要與之一較高低。不知不覺中，他們已經(jīng)踏入了這個瑰麗精彩卻又殘酷萬分的漫畫世界…… 本片根據(jù)創(chuàng)作了超人氣漫畫《死亡筆記》的大場鶇（原作）、小畑健（作畫）的同名漫畫改編。
