下流工作 Dirty Work (2018)

　　他（Method Man 飾）是一個沉默的男子，永遠禮帽風衣，沉默地穿梭在這座道德淪喪、破敗絕望的城市的大街小巷。死亡每天發生，司空見慣，不知天高地厚的年輕人們呼嘯而過，揮霍生命。白天他是市殯儀館的殯儀師，以嫻熟專業且莊重的手法清理殘破不堪的尸體，帶死者走過最后一程；夜晚則端坐那間被暴怒吵鬧的鄰居所包圍的小屋里，細心制作動物標本，為他們的主人找回最后的安慰。　　某天，一具女性尸體在他死水般的內心世界引起漣漪。尸體上紋有波提切利的名作《維納斯誕生》，似曾相識的圖案勾起了他對往事的回憶。城市的自毀仍在繼續，他也無法永保平靜……

　　《蜘蛛男》是“江戶川亂步作品集”第七卷。故事開頭，怪紳士稻桓租下了一間事務所，把它重新裝修成美術藝品店。第二天開業時聘用了一名十八歲的美少女，但當天晚上就奸殺了這名少女。接下來的幾天內報紙社會版頭條陸續刊登了“碎尸案”、“美人魚案”。民間犯罪學者畔柳博士接手此案，在與藍胡子稻桓正面交鋒的過程中屢屢敗下陣來，直到環游歸來的明智加入偵破陣營……，故事從讀者預測不到的角度展開，是一部名探與殺人狂的斗智故事。

　　Following her mother’s death, manga artist Soriya travels to her ancestral home in Phnom Penh, with hopes of reconnecting with her distant family and using the visit as inspiration for her work. All goes well initially. Renting an apartment in Metta, a rundown Khmer Rouge-era housing complex, her visit to her maternal relatives finds her welcomed with open arms. But Soriya’s waking hours in the apartment and its surroundings are punctuated by terrifying, bloody visions, almost as though she were a conduit for horrors of the past wanting to seep into the present.　　Inrasothythep Neth and Sokyou Chea’s blood-chilling psychological horror explores a personal and political past through the present, transforming a characterful space into an insidious environment. Surrounded by modern high-rises, this decrepit structure, with its brutalist architecture and peeling surfaces, is a relic from a dark period in history whose painful memories it has absorbed. In tracing Soriya’s ominous journey back to her roots, Tenement hints at a necessary reckoning with Cambodia’s political past without overplaying its historical dimension. It’s an impressive work from a woefully underrepresented national cinema.
