All goes well initially. Renting an apartment in Metta, a rundown Khmer Rouge-era housing complex, her visit to her maternal relatives finds her welcomed with open arms. But Soriya’s waking hours in the apartment and its surroundings are punctuated by terrifying, bloody visions, almost as though she were a conduit for horrors of the past wanting to seep into the present.　　Inrasothythep Neth and Sokyou Chea’s blood-chilling psychological horror explores a personal and political past through the present, transforming a characterful space into an insidious environment. Surrounded by modern high-rises, this decrepit structure, with its brutalist architecture and peeling surfaces, is a relic from a dark period in history whose painful memories it has absorbed. In tracing Soriya’s ominous journey back to her roots, Tenement hints at a necessary reckoning with Cambodia’s political past without overplaying its historical dimension. It’s an impressive work from a woefully underrepresented national cinema.

　　南、歐、尼克、竇和梅是五個剛畢業(yè)沒多久的新新人類，出于對影視行業(yè)和靈異題材的熱愛，他們拍攝了一支鬧鬼廢墟的小短片。雖然沒有獲得相關(guān)公司的認(rèn)可，但一經(jīng)上傳后很快得到網(wǎng)友的廣泛關(guān)注和支持。在此之后，專門拍攝靈異題材的制作公司鬼域（Ghost Land）聯(lián)系到他們，邀請三個人前往端島拍攝。端島是位于日本長崎一座形狀酷似軍艦的島嶼，19世紀(jì)末曾憑借豐富的礦藏贏得某大型企業(yè)的關(guān)注，但是隨著能源方式的改編如今已變成遍布廢墟的荒島。　　無所顧忌的年輕人們登上端島，期間還遭遇傳說中的美女美子的鬼魂，他們就此厄運纏身……
