本片講述文藝復(fù)興時(shí)期，意大利女畫家阿特米西亞（瓦倫蒂娜 ;切威 Valentina Cervi飾）青年時(shí)代的凄美愛情故事。清秀美麗的阿特米西亞出生于藝術(shù)世家，父親奧拉其奧（米歇爾t;塞羅 Michel Serrault飾）在意大利已是很有名望的畫家。然而在藝術(shù)方面天賦異稟的阿特米西亞，無(wú)視那些清規(guī)戒律，從而不能進(jìn)入美術(shù)學(xué)院。可這并沒有阻礙她對(duì)繪畫的執(zhí)著追求，仍然狂野熱烈的創(chuàng)作著。直到她遇見畫家阿格斯提諾 bull;塔西（米基 ;馬諾洛維克 Miki Manojlovi ;飾），她闖入畫室把畫好的男性L體給他看。塔西被她的勇氣與美貌所吸引，更對(duì)她不凡的天賦所震撼。自然地，兩人墜入愛河。然而這熾熱迅猛的愛情卻被她的父親阻撓，把塔西告上法庭。悲劇上演  影片榮獲1998年金球獎(jiǎng)最佳外語(yǔ)片提名。
