But Soriya’s waking hours in the apartment and its surroundings are punctuated by terrifying, bloody visions, almost as though she were a conduit for horrors of the past wanting to seep into the present. Inrasothythep Neth and Sokyou Chea’s blood-chilling psychological horror explores a personal and political past through the present, transforming a characterful space into an insidious environment. Surrounded by modern high-rises, this decrepit structure, with its brutalist architecture and peeling surfaces, is a relic from a dark period in history whose painful memories it has absorbed. In tracing Soriya’s ominous journey back to her roots, Tenement hints at a necessary reckoning with Cambodia’s political past without overplaying its historical dimension. It’s an impressive work from a woefully underrepresented national cinema.

日南響子,飛鳥凜,藤本七海據日本警方統計，每年僅提交申請的失蹤人口就達10萬人，其中9萬人的行蹤可疑確認，但仍有1萬人下落不明。位于遠郊的一座深山叢林，似乎具有著強烈的魔性，無數人進入這里，從此消失無蹤。少女繭（日南響子 飾）偶然和父親目擊一輛綁架了少女的車，父女倆一路追蹤，走上了不歸之途；家庭主婦真奈（桐島れいか 飾）十年前曾在林中丟失長女，如今他的小女兒阿櫻離家上學后也一去不返；正在拍攝恐怖電影的新人女演員麗奈（飛鳥凜 飾）結束工作后，不得不穿越那座恐怖的森林，其中的景象與聲音令她戰栗不已；小女孩薰（藤本七海 飾）受托照顧鄰家的孩子，可是她卻遭遇了一個恐怖的人形。 不同的人，不同的故事，同樣的恐怖……
