Ay?e, Ali, Mehmet and Zeynep are middle-class millennials struggling to make ends meet in Istanbul. Either still living with their parents or hardly getting by without help from their families, they are all beset by similar woes: money crunch, joblessness, social isolation. In view of the world’s horrors that Zeynep enumerates in her diary entries, these are minor problems, ‘slight disasters’, but they are all-consuming, at least to the extent of making them cry in the still of the night. 　　However, Umut Subasi’s first feature, Almost Entirely a Slight Disaster, is not a melodrama. With an appealingly light touch, it diagnoses the malaise of a generation that has run up against a dead end, one whose future prospects are indistinguishable from a game of chance. This is a world where astrology, the lottery and online personality tests compete with visa and job applications as life-shaping elements. 　　Fittingly, the film is structured around chance and coincidence, with its handful of characters encountering each other in every permutation, as though there were no world outside this small social bubble. 大帝機器人

　　東寶ビデオのシネパック第一弾として、1991年11月8日にリリースされたのがこの『ミカドロイド』である。　　第二次大戦末期、敗色濃厚な日本。その中で帝國陸軍が極秘裏に研究していた秘密兵器、それが人造人間“ジンラ號”。敗戦とともに歴史から抹消されたジンラ號であったが、空襲で埋沒した研究所の中、眠り続けていた一體があった。そして今、半世紀の歳月を経て、ジンラ號が東京の地下に蘇る！　ふとした偶然でその地下迷宮に迷い込んでしまった若い男女二人は何を見るのか？　未完成の人造人間として老いる事も出來ずに彷徨い続けてきた謎の男、彼は一體何を望むのか？　本作は舞臺となる場所と時間が狹い範囲に限定されているため、物語の密度が濃く、一夜限りの幻想的な悪夢のような作品となっている。　　ジンラ號のデザインを擔當したのはイラストレーターの明日蘭。蒸気機関車のような舊式なラインでまとめられているジンラ號は一見ユーモラスで鈍重な外見だが、內に潛ませた悪夢と狂気が不思議な説得力を持ち、印象深い仕上がりとなっている。またジンラ號専用武器として設計されたという設定の“１００式短機関銃改「ベ式」テラ銃”は、當時の落下傘部隊が使用した実銃をモチーフにいかにもそれらしくまとめられており、ジンラ號の設定をよりリアルな物としている。その他、南部十四年式拳銃や９６式軽機関銃などの各種プロップガンもリアルな作動シーンを見せて畫面を引き締めている。　　監督を務めたのは特殊メイククリエイターとして有名な原口智生。本作は原口自身が長年あたためてきた企畫で、原口の監督デビュー作となった。
