等待方舟

　　Set in an underground dungeon inhabited by bundled, ragged human beings, after the nuclear holocaust. The story follows the wanderings of a hero through the situations of survival. People wait for the Ark to arrive and rescue them while their habitat falls apart.　　Delving deep into the dusty and long abandonded vaults of b-cinema in search of lost gems always leaves me with a bittersweet taste. On one hand the discovery of unexpected gems where no one would think them possible is a rewarding experience. On the other hand though it makes one wonder how many of these remarkable low-budget oddities, personal love affairs of directors never quite famous and now all but forgotten, have almost forever slipped from memory?　　n any case what we have here is a little post-apocalyptic gem from Poland that is really better than it has any right to. The dystopian near future of O-BI, O-BA finds a group of survivors of the nuclear war that ravaged the Earth inhabiting an underworld concrete bunker and biding their time as they wait for the mysterious Ark, an air ship of some kind that will come and save them. The Ark proves to be an elaborate hoax, carefully designed to give hope to the malnourished and desperate denizens of the bunker, while in the meantime the dome that separates their miserable existence from the nuclear winter outside is slowly caving in.　　What first striked me about the movie is the design of the bunker and the depiction of the survivors. The survivors are gaunt, filthy and terrible-looking penitents, dressed in rags and aimlessly wandering the neon-lit halls of the bunker like automatons. The bunker is a rundown, seedy place, with bright neon lights peering from all sides like the eyes of malignant beasts.　　On one hand it is a slightly 80's depiction of the dystopian future but the movie never stoops down to MAD MAX cheese. Instead it combines biting political satire with the bleak outlook of a world with no future, black comedy with barbs on apathy, religion and power. The survivors, for example, are fed some kind of flour dropping from a tube that hovers in the air - later on we discover the food supervisor uses books and the Bible itself as filler for this meagre meal. There are many such short symbolic touches, perhaps not life-changing or faith-restoring, yet playful, clever and inspired.　　One thing is for sure; O-BI, O-BA is not your run-of-the-mill sci-fi schlock. It overcomes its modest budget with creativity and has genuine artistic aspirations both from a writing and directing perspective. My opinion is that it should have been filmed in black and white instead of colour though. The director uses atmospheric light and shadow to great effect and it would have registered even better in stark black and white. The blue-green neon on the other hand outstays its welcome after a while. Just a minor gripe in an otherwise solid b-movie with its heart set in all the right places.　　Imagine a less bleak THE ROAD (Cormac McCarthy) being injected with the satire and humour of DR.STRANGELOVE and you're getting there. See it if you can find it.

巨獸格果

　　50年代，美國拍了《原子怪獸》，日本拍了《哥斯拉》，50年代末期英國又趁熱打鐵拍了《海底巨獸》。1961年又和米高梅合拍了《巨獸格果》。　　《巨獸格果》不像其他怪獸電影那樣，怪獸開頭都是神龍見首不見尾，最后城市大戰時露個全身。本片中怪獸破壞的鏡頭完完全全的展現在觀眾面前，拆了倫敦塔橋，還推到了大本鐘。最后全憑兩雙大腳一路踩爆房屋，磚瓦四濺，相當過癮。本片講述了人類抓到了一只可愛的小怪獸——格果，然后把它關進馬戲團里，哪知道后來把怪獸老娘惹來了…

恐怖回音

　　安娜·帕克（凱特·法蘭奇 Kate French 飾）是一個美麗的女作家，當下她正為新書做最后的沖刺，可是擔任出版編輯的男友保羅·瓦格納（史蒂文·布蘭德 Steve Brand 飾）卻提出了較為尖刻的修改意見。心情頗有些低落的安娜找不到靈感，創作陷入僵局。為了幫她完成工作，保羅將安娜帶到一處位于沙漠中央的別墅進行創作，不過他突然有事離開，只留下安娜和一條狗。到了夜晚，安娜驚訝地發現有一個恐怖的人逡巡在別墅附近。她嘗試著向保羅求助，然而無法得到有效回應。　　2012-3-2，一組奇怪的數字，讓安娜陷入前所未有的恐懼之中。而在無盡的恐慌中，她終于發現了可怕的秘密……

上天救命

　　麥道梅（曾志偉 飾）人如其名，一生歷經坎坷無數，去內衣廠工作就連累企業業績直線下滑，談女朋友就被拋棄，連累的三十多歲的家姐至今未嫁。無奈的姐姐拿出了家傳的玉鐲贈與一事無成的麥道梅，希望幫他轉運，抑郁的麥道梅酒后駕車，被人撞下高坡，迷迷糊糊見到了牛頭馬面，此二鬼卒告知麥道梅陽壽未盡，在王百萬、包黛麗、石神三人身亡之后即是他麥道梅之死期……清醒過來的麥道梅馬上遇上了被撕票的富翁王百萬，而石神便是綁架王百萬的案犯之一，而包黛麗則是石神的女友，為了自救，麥道梅試圖保護包黛麗和石神，因此卷入了這起綁架案，而石神的妹妹石女（鐘楚紅 飾）更是令麥道梅心動。未知麥道梅如何自救，又怎樣贏得石女芳心？
