楊千嬅,陳奕迅,鄭裕玲,曾志偉,黎耀祥,何超儀典型都市女性Diana（鄭裕玲 飾）有著驕人的事業(yè)成績，也積極經(jīng)營著自己的愛情。可是香港經(jīng)濟不景氣，她與同公司的小職員韋大漢（曾志偉 飾）都在了裁員的名單上。韋大漢早年妻子因為好賭離家出走，丟下了女兒千華（楊千嬅 飾）及小兒子萬華需要供養(yǎng)。他向兒女隱瞞自己已經(jīng)被解雇的事實，可是Diana的出現(xiàn)讓千華及弟弟都知道了爸爸的真實情況。原來Diana的出現(xiàn)是想跟他們參加一個家庭制的游戲，只有勝出游戲，電視臺便會原價收購他們的負資產(chǎn)業(yè)。Diana是一個自私冷酷的人，在游戲的過程中，被大漢付出在兒女身上的感情而改變了她。千華也在游戲中與導演（陳奕迅 飾）產(chǎn)生了感情。游戲最終由他們勝出，可是千華親生母親的出現(xiàn)使局面徹底改變了……
好像一切都很糟糕

Either still living with their parents or hardly getting by without help from their families, they are all beset by similar woes: money crunch, joblessness, social isolation. In view of the world’s horrors that Zeynep enumerates in her diary entries, these are minor problems, ‘slight disasters’, but they are all-consuming, at least to the extent of making them cry in the still of the night. However, Umut Subasi’s first feature, Almost Entirely a Slight Disaster, is not a melodrama. With an appealingly light touch, it diagnoses the malaise of a generation that has run up against a dead end, one whose future prospects are indistinguishable from a game of chance. This is a world where astrology, the lottery and online personality tests compete with visa and job applications as life-shaping elements. Fittingly, the film is structured around chance and coincidence, with its handful of characters encountering each other in every permutation, as though there were no world outside this small social bubble.
